Is Pantone’s Greenery on your “to do” lists in 2017?

What’s trending for 2017?

Revive, restore and refresh with Greenery!

Pantone has named Greenery the Pantone Color of 2017.

Pantone tells us that Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings and will represent our predicted expression of mood and attitude in 2017.

I see a lovely new beginning here!

Here is what Pantone says about Greenery:

“Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.”

Fashion, interior design and consumer packaging have a lot in common when it comes to color.

Think of package design as the “clothes” of products, if ya know what I mean.

To put it in perspective, retail shelves are the runway and packaging is the outfit!

Ok, lets consider how Greenery may play into package design.

It’s Pantone 376 C.

In consumer behavioural studies, when consumers are asked to describe a consumer package from memory, shape (structure) is often mentioned first, followed closely by color (graphics). It follows the 3ft and 3 second rule.

It’s important to know that while Greenery is trending, it may  not be the right color selection for your brand and message.

Design packaging with the target consumer in mind. Invest in consumer research and a good package designer!

Good packaging connects with target consumers, not always with what’s trending in color.
